In thinking about this inaugural blog, my first thought was that it should be a very special piece of writing. Then it occurred to me that this is just the beginning of what I hope will be a long and productive relationship with those of you who find your way to this site. So I decided that it only made sense to start at the beginning. And the beginning is how Mystical U came to be.
When the name Mystical U came to me, I immediately saw that there was more than one level to the name. First, there is reference to the fact that there is, in each of us, a mystical place—that place that remains untouched by the mundane world no matter what joys and tribulations we may experience. It is that part that can’t remember not “being.” It is the part that will drag up a ray of hope when all seems lost. And it is the part that falls into tears of joy at a simple kindness.

It seems to me that we, the human race, would do well to rekindle our relationship with our mystical selves. It’s not about becoming religious, it is about expanding our awareness beyond what we see and experience on an everyday basis. As this awareness grows, the physical world seems less forbidding and it is easier to see options in difficult circumstances.
The second aspect of Mystical U is that the “U” implies a sort of Higher Learning. (I couldn’t help think of Monster U.) Rather, Mystical U will present opportunities to learn different ways of looking at life through a spiritual lens. The word “university” refers to a body of people who gather to teach, but the root word “universe” means “whole.” Many are looking to become spiritually whole again; the goal here is to share my own metaphysical training, experience, and insights in the hope that you will gain some insight into your own way of being.
Yet, we do not promise miracles. I will never tell you that you can just think your way through something. Certainly, the way you think about things affects your life, but it cannot simply be reduced to so-called positive thinking. Still there are specific techniques that you can use to improve the quality of your life. Rarely will this sort of thing happen over night, but your life can change for the better if you decide that is what you want.
There will be discussions on topics that you have probably heard about before: positive thinking, the law of attraction, creating your own reality, etc. My take on these things is different from the current pop-culture perception. I will also tell you that I am decidedly not a New Ager and neither are my teachings, even though at first glance it may seem otherwise. I will cover these and other ideas in future posts.
Thanks for tuning in and I hope to see you around every now and then.
Blessings and Deep Peace,
Deborah
