Not long ago, I overheard a gentleman discussing the current economic situation. He said, “There is only so much money in the world.” Initially, I scoffed, because we live in an abundant world, but after letting that roll around in my head for a while, I realized that there indeed may be a limit to the amount of the thing we call money, if you are talking about its physical existence. The idea of money is an artificial construct which assigns high value to substances, such as gold, that are rare. Basing trade value on something that is not plentiful, by definition, creates the idea of lack.

Follow your passion! Do what you love, the money will come! Follow your heart!
For over thirty years I listened to the experts on how to accomplish this task of finding my passion. They make it sound so easy. But I spent a great deal of time agonizing about how to find my passion, that I hadn’t found my passion and wondering what was wrong with me. Then one day, when I was sixty-one years old, my passion slammed into me with the force of a hurricane. It was time to become a minister. This is what I had always wanted but until that moment, I didn’t see it as my Passion. “What is that?” I asked my husband as I eyed the small green orbs sitting on the kitchen counter. I knew what they were; I just didn’t want to believe my own eyes.
“They’re Brussels sprouts,” he said innocently. “And you bought them because . . .” “The doctor said I should be eating more fiber,” he said. “You mean for us to eat them?” I asked trying not to let my panic show. “Well, yeah,” he said, “Let me change out of my work clothes and I’ll help you make dinner.” And he did it, my beloved husband left me alone in a room with twelve Brussels sprouts. I started at the evil orbs and wondered how I would survive the cooking process, never mind the eating event. I knew I was being a bit silly and after a few moments of reflection I realized that I had actually gone into fear over a dozen little green vegetables |
