We live in a culture of rapidly changing spiritual perceptions. More people are moving away from traditional churches into a free-flowing search for Meaning and Purpose in life. We are opening our minds to new and different ways of thinking and opening our hearts to new ways of experiencing the Divine.
It is an exciting time to be investigating your spirituality, yet the openness and free flow of information can also be very confusing. There are teachers, books, DVDs, seminars, classes, and an infinite number of Internet sites, all of which offer approaches to the new spirituality. It is wonderful to have these resources, but ultimately, your spiritual progress has to come from within.
Mystical U Spiritual Exploration (M.U.S.E.) allows you to discover how certain unconscious core beliefs run your life and how to use spiritual ideas and values to shift into more constructive and affirmative thought patterns.
Spiritual Exploration is reflecting on how and why an idea works, or doesn’t work, for you. It is not therapy; it is not ripping into your subconscious to uncover difficult memories. But by reflecting, or musing, on your reactions and responses to different spiritual concepts, you can begin to see how your thought patterns reflect a deeply help belief that interferes with what you consciously want to manifest in your life.
Here is an example: “Maggie’s” adult daughter needed to purchase a car and Maggie’s friend had one on offer for a very good price. But the daughter was not taking steps to contact the friend. Maggie was frustrated and annoyed, but at the same time, she was trying to stay out of the situation. Maggie was sure this was all about her own control issues. In the course of our conversation, something struck Maggie and she sat wide-eyed and surprised. She looked at me and said, “ I am not worried about the car, I am worried about what my friend will think of me!” Once Maggie recognized what was really running her thoughts, she was able to let go and allow the daughter to resolve her own car situation.
Maggie was struggling because she consciously wanted to apply the spiritual principle of letting go but there was something on the unconscious level that was pushing back and this caused her frustration and confusion. Finally, she realized that unconsciously she was worried about what other people thought and once that idea became conscious, she was able to apply her spiritual principle and move on.
In this process there was no deep analysis, no dredging up what happened when she was three years old. Certainly, Maggie might now take the time to muse on how she was taught to worry about what other people will think. But the simple insight was life changing for her; her perspective on her own “control” issues has changed and she is now more compassionate with herself.
How does Spiritual Exploration differ from spiritual counseling? In the M.U.S.E. process, I don’t dispense advice or tell you what to do. We sit together, we talk, we meditate, we open to Spirit for insight and support. And although we talk about the situation, the focus is always on your own inner sight to bring forth the solutions to circumstances, to show you how your deep beliefs often conflict with what you consciously want to accomplish. Ultimately, it is a process of bringing your conscious desires and deep beliefs into alignment with each other.
